I'm a little late in posting this, but I say better late than never, right?! On March 29th Ashlea Bruno and I hosted the first Birth Boot Camp Meet & Greet for the Bryan/College Station area. It was a huge success! We had a great turn out and talked to lots of moms and local professionals about why we are so excited to bring this comprehensive, up- to-date, and just plain awesome education to our area!
We started out by just visiting, talking one on one with some old friends and new faces. It's always super fun to just sit around and chat all things birthy! After all of the introductions quieted down a bit Ashlea and I took turns talking specifically about the Birth Boot Camp materials. I broke down what is taught in each class and Ashlea talked about all the additional areas taught in classes like chiropractic care, doulas, nutrition, and the mother friendly initiative which the BBC materials are largely based on. We talked about how couples will walk away from our classes feeling empowered and knowledgeable about birth, their choices, breastfeeding, and taking care of baby. Then we watched one of my favorite birth videos that shows a sweet birth center birth that takes my breath away every time I see it. We wrapped up our presentation by asking all the mamas to sign up for our giveaway which was a BBC tumbler with some extra goodies to along! Fun stuff! I think everyone was very impressed with our materials. It's hard not to be!
We ended with some fun, healthy snacks and more visiting! It was a big success and I am so excited to be teaching! Thank you to Toni Kimpel, owner of Jubilee Birth Center who let us take over her education room for the morning!
